Tourism Vancouver Island is an independent informational travel guide operated by The Travel Spark Company LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use this website, why it may be used, and the choices available to you.

Information you choose to provide

If you use a contact or newsletter form, the site may receive the information you enter, such as your name, email address, subject, and message. Required fields are identified at the point of collection. Do not submit sensitive personal information through a general contact form.

Technical information

The website and its hosting providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested URL, date and time, response status, and security events. Server logs are used for reliability, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting and should be retained only as long as operationally necessary.

Travel-provider content may request images or data from the provider when displayed. Following a booking link takes you to a separate service with its own cookie policy. Travel and booking services

Tour or accommodation cards may link to independent providers. If you follow a provider link, the provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy. A provider may use a referral parameter to attribute a booking. Tourism Vancouver Island does not receive payment-card details from a provider-hosted checkout.

Email and contact delivery

When you contact us, we use your name, email address, subject, and message to handle your request and respond through our support channel. Contacting us does not subscribe you to marketing emails. If you choose to subscribe to island notes, Brevo processes your email address and subscription preferences on our behalf. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in each newsletter or by contacting us.

Sharing and service providers

Information may be processed by hosting, security, email, analytics, or booking providers only to support the relevant service. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention and security

We retain contact correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and address related administrative or legal obligations. Newsletter information is retained while your subscription is active; a limited suppression record may remain after you unsubscribe so your choice is respected. Technical logs are kept for operational and security purposes. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. Requests can be made through the Contact page. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed.

Children

This general travel guide is not directed to children under 13, and the site does not knowingly seek personal information from children.
